Kryptonite Endorses New National Bike Registry
Premier Lock Manufacturer and NBR Also Form Marketing Alliance
(Berkeley, CA -- March 9, 2000) The new
National Bike Registry (NBR) and Kryptonite Corporation announced today
that they have formed an alliance to fight bicycle theft through joint
marketing and consumer information programs.
"It has been shown that both locking your bike and registering it,
are the best preventative measures to fight bike theft," says Rob
Kaplan of the National Bike Registry. "Both Kryptonite and NBR, each
through their joint programs, can inform their customers of these
security solutions . That's why this alliance makes perfect sense. We are
pleased that the number one name in bicycle locks is working with
us."
As part of this newly-formed alliance, Kryptonite Corporation will
endorse NBR as its preferred national bicycle registration service. NBR
referral information will be in Kryptonite's bicycle product packaging
and on its web site at
www.kryptonitelock.com.
NBR will include information on proper bike-locking procedures on it's
web site at
www.bicyclelink.com.
"Kryptonite is impressed with the direction and management of the
new and improved NBR," said Karen Rizzo, Director of Brand
Management at Kryptonite. "We are pleased to be partnering with NBR
once again to create marketing programs that focus on bicycle
security."

About the National Bike Registry
NBR is the nation's leading Internet-based bicycle registration
service. According to FBI statistics, almost half of stolen bikes are
recovered; however most recovered bikes cannot be returned because police
have no way of identifying the owners. Further most retrieved bikes are
not usually found within the same jurisdiction. NBR offers an inexpensive
way for consumers to register their bicycles, and offers law enforcement
a centralized database of registered owners.
The National Bike Registry can be found on the web at
www.bicyclelink.com
or by calling 1-800-848-BIKE.
